This Solid Mahogany Presidential Resolute Desk is a finely crafted replica of the iconic desk used in the Oval Office. The original desk was made from the timbers of HMS Resolute, a British Arctic exploration ship later returned to Great Britain by the United States as a gesture of goodwill. From its salvaged wood, Queen Victoria commissioned four desks, one of which was presented to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 and later used by multiple U.S. Presidents.
Our Resolute Presidential Desk is handcrafted from plantation-grown, legally certified Indonesian mahogany, prized for its strength and ability to support intricate carving. The desk is fully customizable in finish and may be ordered with a solid wood top or leather inlays.
Product Specs & Features:
- Wooden top, without leather
- Both center drawers (front and back) hinge mounted so they can flip down for keyboard usage
- Right top drawers at the back and front side also using the hinges so they can flip down for mouse usage
- the center vanity panel (with the eagle crest) to open inward rather than outward
- 5" holes drilled into the top (through leather and finished well) to accommodate computer cables, capped with matching mahogany wood grommet caps. One hole would be placed on each long end of the desk, centered in depth, so that cables can run down between the top drawers to a PC tower housed in each cabinet.
- Top holes should be aligned:
- Front-Back: centered (18" depth)
- Long-side-to-side: roughly in the center over each pillar base, equal distance from the side edges.
- Inner side holes on pillar cabinets should be aligned:
- Side-to-side: centered in the carved relief panel on the empty cabinet side (side without drawers)
- Top-to-bottom: on the upper half of the panel, ideally closer to the underside of the drawer than the floor
- When the desk is ready in the raw state, before we drill the holes, we will make a mock up for the holes so we can be sure that all the placement are correct.
- Replace the eagle carving with the lion head carving
