Description:
This solid wood Resolute Presidential Desk by Mahogany Millworks is a gorgeous replica of the iconic desk used in the Oval Office of the White House. The original was gifted to President Rutherford B. Hayes by Queen Victoria after the United States returned HMS Resolute, a British Arctic exploration ship that became trapped in the ice while searching for Rear Admiral John Franklin.
After the ship was later found drifting and returned to Britain, its timbers were used to build four desks, including the one presented to President Hayes in 1880. It went on to be used by several U.S. Presidents in the Oval Office, including FDR, John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.
Our Resolute Presidential Desk is handcrafted from plantation-grown, certified legal mahogany and is available in a variety of finishes, with either a plain wood top or optional leather inlays.
